Dialogue and the Art of Thinking Together

The Art of Thinking Together (AoTT) is a two and one-half-day, integrated introduction to multiple levels of dialogue, organizational learning, and collective inquiry. As a participant, you will learn new communication, action, and awareness skills, and see what dialogue feels like through actual practice. You will walk away with new ways of seeing familiar group patterns and structures, as well as new tools for understanding and impacting the larger systems in which you work and live. Areas of exploration include:

  • Learning and rehearsing a dialogic approach to change
  • Discovering the nature of balanced action in any team or group
  • Inquiring effectively into “what's really going on” in a conversation
  • Understanding distinct ways of speaking and listening, and why breakdowns occur among them
  • Diagnosing self-defeating patterns in your work teams and in your own communications
  • Gaining a feel for the power of collective intelligence and its relevance for your organization
  • Grounding your opinions and abstractions in data that can be validated
  • Using reflection to achieve immediate impact on action and the quality of decisions you make
